Cleaning process can be various from job to job, it will depend on the configuration of the vent, location of the dryer machine and location of the outlet, it will depend on the complexity of the job, the condition of the vent and material used to route it. It will also depend if the dryer vent is clogged or not, if yes, the type of clog. It might be a water clog, bird nest or lint build up. We will try describe all the tools that might be used for the job here.
So, in any possible scenario, we will need agitation tools, which are brushes, air whips, air guns or balls blasting compressed air. The Tool will be inserted into the vent and then expanded for the entire length of the vent. While it makes it way though the vent, it gently scrubs the sides of the vent and removes sticky lint and any possible debris. Agitation tool is activated either by power or compressed air. Usually, agitation tool is paired with the positive or negative air pressure, which means that we’ll need it to blow through the vent and get the lint out of the vent once it’s removed from the walls or negative pressure machine can be used to vacuum and suck all the lint on the opposite side of the duct. We use very powerful professional grade negative pressure machine to create these conditions inside of the dryer vent.
BIRD NESTS REMOVAL & WATER CLOGS
In 99% of the cases where we have a water clog, we will need to disconnect the vent somewhere in the middle and drain the water out. Brushes and whips won’t be very effective when submerged in the water, so first of all, we will need to get the water out and then start the cleaning.
Extraction of the bird nest is usually done without any power tools, just by hands. We will try to keep the nest as solid as we can and move it to some nearby tree. After that, when we are sure that there is no bird or eggs inside, we will clean it our regular way. It is always a challenge, because the nest is going deep into the vent and in some cases may take up to 50% of the inside space
We always check for any air leaks or punctures in the dryer vent and that is not a rare thing to find. Once it discovered, we will either try to patch it or suggest to replacing it. One of the most obvious signs of leakage for the customer, is when You see a build up of lint behind the dryer machine or on the walls around it.
