How We Do It

CLEANING METHOD

The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) recommends having your chimney and fireplace inspected yearly and cleaned if needed. Our trained sweeps will put a drop cloth on the floor, and a vacuum will be turned on and running inside the firebox. The soot and creosote deposits are scraped off the walls of the flue and the smoke chamber with brushes attached to flexible poles. The damper, smoke shelf and hearth are cleaned of any debris. Our methods to insure that there is no mess in your home, in fact we guarantee it. The cleaning may take up to an hour, and should be done every one to three years depending on use, or when you move into a new home. A visual inspection of the interior and exterior areas of the chimney, including the crown, flue, and flashing is also performed.

We do not want to bore You with more technical details and instead would like to show You some self-explanatory pictures…

First we thoroghly inspect the condition of Your chimney and check for anything unusual

FIRST WE NEED TO INSPECT ALL THE CONDITIONS OF YOUR CHIMNEY VERY THOROUGHLY AND CHECK FOR THE LEVEL OF SOOT, BUILD-UP, CRACKS OR  ANYTHING UNUSUAL

Chimney-Step-2

…AND THEN IF SOMETHING LIKE A BIRD NEST OR ANIMAL FOUND INSIDE, WE WOULD NEED TO SAFELY REMOVE IT AND NOT TO HARM OUR FRIENDS. IT’S NOT THEIR FAULT THAT THEY END UP IN YOUR CHIMNEY….

Chimney-Step-3

AS SOON AS WE KNOW WHAT TO DO, WE WILL START TO SET UP A CLEANING TERRITORY… BRINGING TOOLS INTO THE HOUSE, COVERING AREAS AROUND THE FIREPLACE WITH PLASTIC OR DROP CLOTHS

Chimney- Step-4

THEN THE CLEANING BEGINS… TECHNICIANS WILL USE MOTORIZED BRUSH AND INSERT IT INSIDE OF YOUR CHIMNEY ADDING SPECIAL EXPANDABLE RODS AND PUSHING THE BRUSH HIGHER AND HIGHER

Chimney-Step-4.1

IN SOME CASES, TECHNICIAN CAN DECIDE NOT TO USE THE MOTORIZED BRUSH, BUT INSTEAD USE A MANUAL BRUSH. THIS MAY HAPPEN AT ANY POINT OF TIME DURING THE CLEANING. IT COULD BE SOME TOUGH SOOTED SPOT INSIDE OR TECHNICIAN JUST NEED MORE SENSITIVE CLEANING

Chimney-Step-5

SOME CONDITIONS DICTATE ITS OWN SCENARIOS. IF WE ARE NOT ABLE TO GET THE BRUSH INSIDE FROM THE FIREPLACE OR TECHNICIAN THINKS THAT THE BEST WAY OF CLEANING FOR YOUR CHIMNEY IS FROM OUTSIDE….

Chimney-Step-6

…HE CLIMBS TO THE ROOF, REMOVES THE CAP (IF THERE IS ONE) AND BRUSHES IT FROM THE ROOF DOWN TO THE BOTTOM

Chimney-Step-7

TECHNICIAN WILL TRY TO MAKE YOUR FIREPLACE AS PRETTY AS POSSIBLE, BRUSHING THE WALLS AND DAMPER

Chimney-Step-8

CLEAN UP TIME. USUALLY YOUR FIREPLACE IS SEALED WITH PLASTIC WHILE WE DO THE CLEANING. ALSO THERE IS A VACUUM CONNECTED INSIDE TO MINIMIZE AIR BOURNE DUST AND SOOT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, BUT EVEN AFTER ALL STEPS, THERE IS SOMETHING LEFT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FIREPLACE, TECHNICIAN WILL PICK IT UP
